STS High School welcomes exchange students from the entire world who want to come to Canada . We have arrivals at the end of August and the end of January. The students stay for one or two semesters. The youth come here to experience something new, get to know our culture and how we live here, go to a Canadian school and learn our language.

All these youths are going to live in a Canadian host family during their stay here. Becoming a host family means that your family will take part in a unique experience and it will surely make you look upon your own life from a new perspective. Your family will be the hub around which the student's life will turn, a boy or girl who is a long way from home. There is no typical host family but every family has in common that they invite the student into their home and offer room and board and a warm family togetherness. STS arranges a suitable school spot for the student and a contact person for the student as well as the host family. The contact person, the "area representative" lives in your vicinity. He/she supports you all and helps out with answering questions and resolving possible problems.

You choose which student you want to share your home with. You also decide whether you want to be a host family for one semester of a full school year. If you prefer, you can start with a six month trial period, and be what we call a welcome family and then prolong to one year. Being a host family is a great way of preparing yourself for a high school year abroad, for others it may be an alternative to going. There is a discount on the program fee, should your family decide to become a host family.
